Japan Day 5: Happy Birthday America from 2 girls in Tokyo

Today is July 4th so Happy Bday America!

now onto more japanese-y things....lol

today was our last free day of exploring before we had to meet up with the tour...and jerry came through! haha well christine and i ended up escorting them from their station to harajuku, but at least this time no one got lost haha  It was pretty funny XD

spent the morning in harajuku to stare at the heavily made-up lolita girls lol except they were at meiji shrine so we didn't see a lot of them =/ it's funny to hear about japanese girls from an obviously american male's point of view.  christine and i have been complaining about how the japanese guys are disappointing and how we're tricked by their fluffy hair and awesome style. the girls that christine and i thought were cute were now deemed scary by jerry and john due to all the makeup they wore lol however it made for an entertaining trip. i mean christine and i would never have gotten to eat ramen at kyushu jangara, see how guys look airbrushed and walk into the giant condom store in harajuku otherwise lol

But photobooths were definitely the highlight of the day :P check it out lol don't the boys look lovely?

checked out of the hostel and headed for ANA crowne narita after.  if anyone ever wants to stay at a good hostel, backpackers hostel k's house tokyo is a great place :D we wrote in their guest books to say so and even left one of our doll-eyed cue pictures in. they're so heavily airbrushed that no one can tell it's us anyways :P

i can't believe the tour is beginning.  it's going to be nice to not have to plan where to go or even when and what to eat. everything is taken care of so all we have to do is follow and eat haha  oh christine, i would be worried if we weren't doing all that walking. based on tonight's buffet dinner, we definitely will be eating a lot in the next couple of days...

Haha... yes, uh, that buffet was really something.  We ate quite a bit (tried a little bit of everything, as best we could), despite having ramen earlier, and came out super full.  And... we saw two young guys who sat a table away from us.  We think they might be on our tour.  Tiffy originally thought they were Chinese.  When I listened to them speak a bit later, they were speaking in English, so there's a possibility?  We also met our tour guide at dinner, and we saw her talking earlier to another group a couple of tables away from us, a family.  Looks like they're also on our tour?  I guess we'll see tomorrow.

Today was a very fun day.  I was glad we could finally meet Jerry and John ^w^  They are really cool and nice guys, I think, and it was fun just walking up and down Takeshita Street with them.  And yes, if it weren't for them, we never would have gone into that store XD

In the hotel, we had dinner, explored, and then for a while we were watching a Japanese TV channel with some singers who were singing old Japanese-style songs (and we were attempting to sing along by reading the kana from the lyrics on the bottom of the screen XD).  I wonder if that was enka?

The next few days will be busy and event-filled, I think.  Tomorrow is more exploring of Tokyo, and then the onsen (hot springs) after that.  Our internet access will be sporadic at best, so we'll update when we can, but we won't be able to make daily updates anymore :(  Hotels like to charge for use of interwebz...  So please keep an eye out for when we do post.  We'll do our best!
