Food in Japan Part 1

What's a good trip if you don't remember the food you ate? :P  This is the food we had from today, and on the airplane~

mochi comes first!  What would a blog called hello mochi be if we didn't have it first ^w^?

Tiffy and my mochi from the shop in Tsukijishou.  Tiffy's (left) is not technically mochi, but it was good nonetheless.  It got a little damaged in transport :(

And with our iced oolong teas that we got in Tokyo Tower.

The inside of the mochi/sweets.  The one on the left has red bean paste; the one on the right a weird plum jelly/filling that was not bad, just unexpectedly sour.

(More pictures, for your viewing pleasure ^ ^)

Next, we go back in time to revisit the food from the international lounge and the food we were served on the plane.

First Class International Lounge food... sushi, Milano cookies, and tea :3

And then... I'm pasting in the post I wrote while on the plane ^ ^;;
------
Soon after our update, we were served lunch.  You wouldn't believe the kind of food they had -- definitely not airplane food.  First was some beverages; Tiffy and I chose hot green tea.  That came with a spinach and cream cheese (or so I assume) dip and a breadstick and a salad with a bunch of different vegetables and a little shrimp, drizzled in Italian dressing.  After that came our kobachi, which I assume is appetizers.  There were eight little dishes, with one each of the following:
- Squid and bamboo shoot with green miso sauce
- Sea-bream "sashimi" style
- Braised taro and spinach with minced chicken starch sauce
- Marinated shrimp and scallop in vinegar sauce
- Japanese noodles "soba" sushi roll style
- Rolled salmon with radish in egg yolk vinegar sauce
- Fresh tofu
- Chicken teriyaki and steamed green soybeans mousse

This all came with some soba sauce and soy sauce.

Then the main course, dainomono.  They had a choice of "Deep-simmered pork with ginger starch sauce" or "Grilled fillet of Chilian sea-bass with 'Yuzu' citron flavor soy sauce."  I ordered the pork and Tiffy the bass, but they ran out of fish so we both got pork.  This came with steammed rice, Japanese pickles (cucumber, carrot, and lettuce/cabbage), and miso soup.  The rice was freshly steamed Koshihikari rice.

Lastly, dessert: Passion-fruit mousse with pineapple compote.  This came in a cute little glass with a creamy yellow-colored mousse inside, layered with canned pineapple chunks and a light cake on the bottom.  The mousse was topped with a butter cookie stick.

Now, I guess it's nap time XD  The plane is darkened and most people are sleeping.  And no wonder, our chairs are so awesome >w<  They recline almost completely flat, as we have them now, and it's really comfortable.  I may even be able to sleep like this.  And perhaps I will, soon ^w^

Airplane Food, Business Class---makes you rethink huh?

Snack: Mango sorbet

Dinner

Chicken and rice, with matcha (green tea), grilled salmon, vegetables, seaweed, and an orange.

We now skip ahead to the food we had throughout the day.  First, we got some pastries from the 7-11, fluffy bread things stuffed with cream.

We, of course, had sushi next, but no pictures of that because of the scary sushi chef (see previous post).  Then we took a rest during our shopping in Harajuku to get some drinks.

Tiffy's mango tea (left) and my strawberry soy milk (right).  They were both pretty good ^ ^

And lastly, dinner from our first day -- the only real food we had all day, honestly.  We got bento take out from a 24-hour shop near our hostel.  Chicken tonkatsu :3
