Food in China, Part 2

This is the food post for Days 13 and 14, our first two full days in China.  Since most of our food for the last 2 days was at Wanfujing, I won't post those up (they're not that interesting, other than Wanfujing, anyways XP).  That means this is the last food post for our trip... enjoy :3

On Day 13, we met our tour guide and went to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven.  Okay, so food really isn't that interesting for this day... but you can see pictures anyways.

Breakfast at the hotel, as usual.

Lunch at a nasty Americanized Chinese food place.  The only plus to this place was that it had gelato for dessert.  Of course, that plus doesn't even count, because the gelato wasn't free.  So I guess this place just wasn't very good =\

Unique feature: strawberry juice.  It was really just like... strawberry syrup in water, though.

Next, we got to go to a tea house to try teas.  That was actually pertty good... check out the teas :3

Ginseng oolong tea.

Oh, watch this flower bud bloom in water :3

Lastly, a fruits mix tea.

The next day (Day 14), we went to the Jade Museum, the Great Wall, and Ming Tombs.  Breakfast in the morning was at the hotel, same as before, but they had some different foods that we tried.

Lunch was at nasty Americanized Chinese food place #2.  Actually, this one wasn't terrible.  It was located in a Friendship store near the Great Wall... service wasn't too good, but at least their food wasn't dry.  We got a set meal of hot and sour soup, some veggies, a spicy meat dish, and another meat dish.  Dessert was watermelon :3

We had dinner at a Peking duck restaurant that our tour guide recommended to us.  It was really close to our hotel, so we decided to go there.  The food was pretty good, though expensive-ish (not  expensive for Peking duck, just more than we usually spend on food).  I know it wasn't THE place to go for Peking duck (sorry, Wei!), but I think it was still good anyways.  Ignoring the silly waiters and miscommunication, but yeah.  We got half a duck and some side dishes (cucumber, sprouts, sauce, green onion, and this weird chopped up garlic thing), along with these sheets of rice flour pancake-looking things that you wrap the duck in.  Dessert was watermelon, cantaloupe, dragonfruit (the white one with black seeds), orange, and... tomatoes.  First time I had dragonfruit... it was good ^ ^
