Food in Japan, Part 2 (Day 2)

Food for today came from the McDonald's near our hostel, a maid cafe in Akihabara, Tokyo Station, and Harajuku.  Yes, we went to a lot of places.  See Day 2 blog post XP

First, breakfast.  We thought that we may as well try a little McDonald's for breakfast :3  Tiffy and I both got #13, a sausage McMuffin with a drink.  I got lemon tea, which was a bit too sour since I put too much of the lemon flavoring in, and Tiffy got orange juice.

The interesting thing is that they just give you iced tea, and then two little containers of "gum," their version of sweetener, and lemon flavoring.

After that, we traversed Akiba and went into a maid cafe.  No photographs allowed, so we actually don't have anything to show for our drinks >__>;  I got a milk tea, and Tiffy a melon soda.  If you got a cappuccino or an omuraisu (rice omelette), they will draw on it in front of you for you.  I'm not sure it's worth the 500+ yen, but oh well XD;;  I'll let Tiffy tell you about the melon soda.

Disappointed with Akiba's dismal selection of anime goods, we headed over to Tokyo Station.  They have an entire floor of small restaurants and gorgeous pastries.  We explored all of them and took pictures XD.

Sample of shaved ice, with rice balls, red bean, green tea, and condensed milk.  There is also one without the green tea.

Sample brownies :3  Yes, we tried them.   They were ridiculous amounts of delicious smoothness -- and I don't even like brownies.  Or chocolate all that much, for that matter.

You should definitely check out this place (Tokyo Station) sometime.  Their desserts are really some of the prettiest and most delicious sweets you will have :3

For dinner, we were trying to decide between soba and this interesting rice tea soup place (the dashi chazuke).  We ended up selecting dashi chazuke for the night.  I ordered one with steamed chicken, green vegetable, fried egg, and pickled vegetables.  Tiffy got one with grilled salmon and scallops with boiled kelp in sweetened soy.
They came with a tea pot for pouring the soup stock in over the rice, cold okra topped with bonito flakes, seasoned napa cappage, and peanut butter tofu (it tasted like peanut butter, anyways).
