Food in Japan, Part 2 (Day 3)

We started the day out back in Tokyo Station.  Because we arrived too early, the soba place we had intended to go to wasn't open yet, so we went to explore the supermarket.  Yes, there's a supermarket inside the train station.  There were lots of weird/interesting things there.

And then onto... dessert?  We went back to the soba place, but it still wasn't open yet, so we went to a little shop on the side that sold ice cream and its many variations.  We each got floats -- mine was green tea, and Tiffy's was mango.  They were both light and tasty :3  The dark spots are green tea- or mango-flavored ice chunks.  The mango one had a nice fruity flavor, and the green tea was made of the matcha (green tea powder) and was mostly good, just got a bit bitter.

Finally, breakfast.  We had soba~  I got one with vegetables, and Tiffy got one with tempura.  The bowls were very large... we started to discover that not all Japanese portions are small.  By the way, to eat soba with hot soup, you dip everything into the soup before you eat it (as opposed to pouring the soup over) ^ ^

After the Ghibli tour, we came back to Tokyo Station.  Because our tour actually took us on the JR line, we ended up actually right underneath Daimaru(?), a big shopping mall right above Tokyo Station.  Of course, the first floor we were on ended up being the place with all the gorgeous desserts and sweets.

These are samples (from a different store) of a red bean/rice cake bar that we later bought from the store we originally tried it at yesterday.  Er, confusing, but basically sample sizes of a bar that we bought.

And finally, our shaved ice that finished the day.  It was really good, although I'm not partial to condensed milk.  There was more red bean underneath the ice, and they served you hot tea ^w^  Very yummy.  Try it!
